The Winner of Adversity's Triple Crown
In this edition of RC2C, Neil Scott visits with former Boston Red Sox pitcher Michael Bugary, a 15th-round pick in 2009. Sadly, he suffered an arm injury the next year that derailed his career and his lifelong dream. Suffering from depression, he turned to drugs and alcohol. In 2015 he was diagnosed with a medulloblastoma, which required several surgeries to remove a large tumor in the brain. As he was rehabbing, his drug use spiraled out of control. He went through treatment 3 times. The 3rd time was the charm. He is now five and a half years in recovery and openly shares his story. He has written a book titled "The Disease of Me.", You can read a sample from the book and order it at:
Also on the podcast, actor and musician John Stamos talks about facing the disease of alcoholism.
